If you really believe you want to live a longer life then you must work at it. You must read, research information, learn and work hard at it.
Right now you are wondering why I said that. You see everyone you ask, and every doctor you go to see, will tell you something different. According to their motives you can be told plenty of contradicting facts. So how do you know who to believe?
You must do some of the research yourself. You must know some facts before you go asking questions of others. If you don’t, then how will you know if what they are saying is right or not?
There are entirely too many products on the market boasting that they will make you look, feel or act younger. There are some creams etc. that do prevent any further damage to your skin from the sun like Oil Of Olay and Clinique, which is a very good thing to do, but there is no fountain of youth. They are trying to make money on you and you will only get a slight effect, if any. To date, science knows no anti-aging product, herb, vitamin, or mineral to do such a thing.
There is much you can do to change your life so it is better and you have better health. If you want good health you must get started now before you get some of these so-called aging diseases. You have much to learn and the market is lies, lies, lies. You must first educate yourself somewhat so that you can tell the lies from the truth.
This is the first article I am writing to help you do just that. I am writing as many articles as it takes to give you some basic facts about your health and the herbs, vitamins, natural supplements, minerals etc. on the market today. What can they really do? That is included in this series too.
There are also many subjects I am not going to tell you because they will just scare you. People really have no idea how their body actually works. And neither do the medical scientists and researchers know all there is to know. It is an ongoing story with so much more to learn.
I have been a scientist working in the virology and toxicology departments. I know things that I don’t even want to know. But I am going to explain to you the facts about what you need to help yourself.
First of all, you must exercise.
Everybody needs to do some form of exercise, but first you must go to your doctor and find out what kind of exercise you are in shape to do. Start doing the kind of exercise your doctor told you that you are capable of doing and make it a habit 3 or 4 times a week. This will get you into better shape no matter what shape you are in if you are not exercising already.
Even men need to exercise and you might even be able to do the kind of exercise the man is doing in this photo. I see men all the time on bicycles and doing their walks daily because they know by now this is how you stay away from being bedridden and many other bad illnesses that can afflict men.
Most women already know this for some reason but all women should exercise as well.
There is a better way to eat than for your taste buds and you need to get started teaching yourself these recipes as soon as possible. Your taste buds will follow suit. The more recipes you try the more you will end up finding what you do like. There will always be some you dislike and never want to eat again.
I believe there are a plethora of herbs to learn about and to use them on your foods for your health.
You can also learn about the many herbs, vitamins, minerals etc. that you can take to improve on your health. This is one way you can extend your life and be healthy at the same time. You certainly do not want to work at extending your life until you get to better health. Keep your priorities straight.
Walking, Yoga, and swimming have always been the best forms of exercise unless you are training for something else. There is also Tai Chi which every older person should do because it exercises every single muscle in your body, and you can do this way into old age, hopefully until you die. You need to exercise your muscles and get your heart rate up to 120 beats per minute for 20 minutes, to get the benefit from exercise.
You can also go to classes or buy videos like Zumba, or go to Boot Camp classes if you are young or in shape. You can even do weight training if your doctor says that you are capable. If you want to lose weight you can do exercise and take in less calories, but it takes both to lose weight.
CoQ10 is made by the body but as we age the body stops making as much anymore, so it needs to be replenished. I only recommend taking gel caps and the brands that use them. CoQ10 is used by all the organs of the body as well as the tissues and every single cell. Your gums need CoQ10 to stay healthy and something you do not want to have happen is unhealthy gums. It is particularly necessary in promoting good cardiovascular health. CoQ10 is one of the best antioxidants and is essential to make energy for your body because of its role in the mitochondria.
I have provided a link to a chart so that you will be able to see the food contents of CoQ10. As you can see the highest content is in beef hearts, which by the way, I am not going to eat.
The reason I recommend only gel caps is because you will get less fillers in the vitamins that way. Fillers in drugstore vitamin brands can ruin your liver with all the extra stuff they put in them, that you do not need to have to go through your system, especially your liver. I also recommend taking brand name supplements that come from the healthfood store. I am especially fond of Garden of Life, and Mega Food, and any vitamins that come from whole foods, and are organic. Shaklee is a good brand but they are expensive. There should be an expiration date on the bottle so you know they are not old, and have broken down into something not to be eaten.
Exercise makes you feel great, but often it is the next day before it will give you the energy.
So many of my friends have said to me “I do not have the time to exercise.” And I tell them that they should make the time because in the long run it is better for them, and you cannot do later what you can do younger.
When I was getting over my rare illness that most people die from, I had been radiated and was so very tired I could not get out of my chair so a very long time. When I did finally become able to get up and be about I could only exercise for 1 minute, and that was so tough I could barely manage that. But I worked my way up to 5 minutes, then to 10 minutes and then longer. It took me many months.
Perseverance is the key. You can do whatever you set your mind to. You must get into the habit and not forget, or get away from doing the exercise, because you will lose all the goodness and energy you got from it.
